Ensemble Offspring are Australia’s musical lightning rod, drawing the most electric and spectacular talent from around the world and setting it loose in our very own harbour-side backyard. Postponed from 2020 and June 2021, Shivers on Speed is the latest showcase of what is hot right now, featuring three world premieres of sparkling new works by Nicole Murphy, Jack Symonds and Ryan Walsh, plus contemporary sonic masterpieces by Brigitta Muntendorf (an Australian premiere) and Karen Tanaka. Muntendorf’s Shivers on Speed is among the most powerful and intense pieces Ensemble Offspring has ever performed, and audiences are invited to join them down the rabbit hole to discover a world of sound like you’ve never imagined. A guaranteed crowd-pleaser, this work is not to be missed! Jack Symonds’s sextet Memory is a 15-minute tour-de-force composed especially for the ensemble, featuring the wonderful flautist Lamorna Nightingale. Offspring’s 2019 Noisy Women Commission, Click Farm by Nicole Murphy will also premiere alongside Karen Tanaka’s Techno Etudes (a funky and demanding suite of minimalist miniatures for solo piano) and Andrew Ford’s Hook for solo vibraphone.
