Fumeblind Oracle : chamber opera in four parts / music: Huw Belling ; libretto: Pierce Wilcox.
Library shelf no. 782.14/BEL 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
Fumeblind Oracle is a response work to Janáček's The diary of One Who Disappeared. The objectified "Zefka" of Diary moves from love poetry to god-guided violence. Inspired by Sappho and Homer's Iliad, a new libretto by Pierce Wilcox breaks expectation to pieces and builds a real, breathing woman from the shards of Janáček's objectified character.
