Noemi Liba Friedman's music has been described as 'viscerally, timbrally unique and organically fused together to feel like a complete, breathing entity', 'deeply sensed musical narratives' and 'mesmerising and intricate,' and 'potent, evocative'.

A composer, arranger, creator of electronic music, electro-acoustic, sound and visual design, a jazz-trained vocalist, music producer and educator, her approach to composition is multi-dimensional and often multi-disciplinary. She creates original, musical languages and palettes for many of her works, seeking to access what is silent, what lies beneath the surface and what is overwhelmingly present.

Noemi has had works premiered at the Klangwerkstatt Festival für Neue Music in Berlin, the Camino Contro Corrente New Music Festival near Venice, Italy, at the Brooklyn Art Museum, the United Nations in New York, the Kennedy Center In Washington DC, the Lewis Arts Complex and the art gallery at Princeton University and at the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music.

As a solo vocalist, she has performed with John Zorn's Mycale, collaborated/performed with Biennale Artist Heri Dono, and collaborated/performed with Nimrod Weiss of Eness.

She has also produced and toured 3 original recordings as a vocalist, songwriter and band leader, featuring musicians including Dave Beck, the Silo Quartet, Peter Knight, Adam Simmons and Allan Zavod in Melbourne, Kim Sopata, Jaimie Branch, Jeb Bishop, Matthew Agnew and Oana Tatu in Chicago and Mark Helias and Nasheet Waits in New York.

Noemi has completed a Masters of Music Composition at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and has also obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Philosophy and Literature.

She has been the recipient of the Florence Bradford Scholarship, the Cassidy Bequest Scholarship and the Catherine Mary Sullivan Scholarship (all for excellence in composition) and the Ernst Morawetz Prize for Ethnomusicology and Musicology.
