Work Overview

Wilga's Last Dance refers to the only traditional Yuwaalaraay melody ever recorded. Yuwaalaraay composer Nardi Simpson explains that "The piece is about that last melody, about how can we keep breath in that. And to remember Fred Reece, the person that held onto it and kept it for us. So that we can know that song, that language and a bit about that ceremony, and bring life to it in a new way."
