Work Overview

The title for this work comes from the book Dinosaur Heresies by the world renowned palaeontologist Robert Bakker.

The single most momentous event in the plant kingdom was the evolution of flowers; and one theory Mr. Bakker puts forward in his book is that the change in feeding habits of dinosaurs at the end of the Jurassic Period to the large herds of grazing dinosaurs in the Cretaceous gave the first Flowering plants the foothold they needed to start colonising large areas of land.

The action of grazing dinosaurs helped flowering plants spread into areas that were previously occupied by other species. So in a way Dinosaurs did invent flowers by kick starting their evolution!

This piece is about that amazing birth of flowers and their spread to dominance over the entire globe!
