Work Overview
The Piano Trio - Towards The Light is a companion piece to my Piano Quartet -'Sea Changes' released on ABC Classics CD Sea Changes.
A 1st mvt of contrasting moods of turbulance and tranquility ends in mysterious quietude. A certain sense of bitternes or resignation haunts the melodic elements of the 2nd mvt, but from the start the final mvt. has a different narrative - life affirming - hence the subtitle - Towards The Light. Throughout the work solo moments for each instrument appear within the rich texture of piano and strings.
