Work

Ain Ke'erke'cha : Motet a4 - Elastic Score

by Adam Yee (2017)

Work Overview

'ain ke'er'kecha' (Heb. 'there is none to compare to You') is based on an eight-line text introducing the poem 'keil Adon', itself a part of the Sabbath morning liturgy. This introductory text refers to four modes of redemption, associated with four divine names which form part of the climactic central event of the piece. In addition to the four divine names, the work refers to four mystical 'worlds' each of which finds a musical analogue in the four types of material. This work can be played by any combination of instruments provided that the four parts are balanced.
