Work Overview
The music I compose usually reflects on my own behaviours and emotions. It aims to convey the nuance of a specific experience while enabling me to confront, understand, and embrace my own psychological processes. Have a Nice Trip is no exception; it draws inspiration from one of the most intense internal conflicts I have ever grappled with.
The opening movement is intentionally jarring, weaving a relentless rhythmic drive with recurrent dynamic surges that evoke a sense of panic. While the second movement begins with a playful and quirky tone, it gradually transforms its repeating motif into a distorted version of itself. The brief final movement serves as a reflective coda where the looping phrase gently guides the listener toward introspection.
For the most part, this composition comfortably embraces dissonance. My hope is that this turbulent journey provides a space for you to sit with your thoughts and feelings.
