Work Overview
"Untangle the madness that knots me." - Kae Tempest
We Are Strangers is about interlaid directions of speech. The nature of conversation is questioned as each direction is oversaturated and clarity lost. Lines appear as echoes of one another, with one acting as both narrator and observer to the full conversation at hand. The passing of a day, an ebb and flow unravels to reveal a line of sense only in moments of stillness. We become strangers when directionless dialogue leaves us entangled in one another's thought, unable to see where one stops, and another begins.
Here, the sound world of the violin and viola family are blended to form one stream of consciousness.
