Work Overview

Traho was written as an homage to the devastation of Australian wilderness and wildlife following the wildfires of 2019-20.

The skeleton of the piece is sustained by a gently hummed vocal line set to poetry written by Bea Redweik. The piece is composed in 7 sections to consider that nature of that which follows after a tragedy has taken place - when the attention that was once to closely held dissipates yet scars remain starkly written into the landscape and the minds of all who were witness to the tragedy.

Ich heb die Erde aus den Angeln,
Verstimme die Zeit
Ein zeitloses Summen
Andacht und Einsamkeit

-

I unhinge the Earth,
Upset the time
A timeless humming
(of silent) prayer and solitude
