If I Could : for SSAATTB choir / music by Sally Greenaway, text by Sarah Rice.
Library shelf no. 782.55542/GRE 12 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
If I Could is a delightful meeting of text and music exploring the timeless human condition of loss and regret. It is not an archaic or dreary exploration of the topic, but rather is hopeful and reassuring with sublime melodic contours, harmony that covers delightful clusters to broad sweeping progressions that fill the heart with joy and sorrow in equal measure, and a wonderful lyricism built upon memories of nostalgia, joy and regret.
The piece should be sung with as little vibrato as possible, to maximise the intonation in the harmony and the message of the lyric.
