The introductory section of the kit provides a general perspective of the study of world music, and deals with important issues such as multiculturalism, authenticity, political issues and equality in education. The second section looks at the diversity of world music in Australia, covering the folkloric, classical and popular traditions. A large range of musical examples are presented in this section from Asia, the Pacific, South America and Europe. The third section of the kit looks at new Australian world music which fuses various influences and the final section provides lists of other resources, teaching materials, support organisations for world music, ethnic arts officers and funding sources.
