Product details
Then the prophet Miriam is a setting from Exodus 15 20-21. This piece shows influences of Scottish folk music - particularly in the use of modes, and minimalist technques combined with a touch of early Renaissance sacred music. The organ is used not only to supply a wonderful deep resonance and foundation for the voices but it also a rich trapestry of sound around which the voices are woven. The music has ecstatic moments along with moments of lyrical serenity. The biblical text gives prominence to a powerful woman who knew the joy of music and dance.
