A Festival of Stars

The title Shichiseki is from the lead track of this album, which features the duo violin and piano work by Japanese composer Kanako Okamoto. It is the name given to the Japanese Star Festival held on 7th July, and coincidentally Michael Kieran Harvey's birthday.

In a deep nod to the fine work of the Melbourne Composers League, this CD brings together collaborations between composers, Kanako Okamoto, Gabriella Vici, Andrián Pertout and Mark Pollard, and features the musical artistry of Japanese violinist Miwako Abe, Melbourne cellist Alister Barker and piano master Michael Kieran Harvey. Solos were written especially for Harvey by Gabriella Vici and Andrian Pertout.
