Product details
Abandon Control is Barega's second album release featuring all-new original Australian compositions. It's long been the group's goal to champion the importance of creating new music, and specifically to feature the diverse talents of many Australian composers the group has worked with. In a chamber music context, the unique capabilities of the saxophone quartet provide limitless opportunity for colour and expressiveness. From the aggressive high-adrenaline rhythmic turbulence of Cathy Likhuta's 'Hard to Argue', to the lush, spiralling complexity of Nathan Lam's 'Pleasure Savors', to the mysterious and melancholy 'Rustle' by Paul Cutlan, to the abrasively visceral and capricious title track, the narrative arc of Abandon Control takes the listener on a vivid journey through the full emotional spectrum.
