Event Details
In this programme the Bourbaki Ensemble performs no fewer than four Australian works, all composed within the last couple of years. Andrew Ford's clarinet quintet "Oma Kodu", based upon traditional Estonian music, here receives its first performance in a new version for clarinet and string orchestra. "Altjiranga mitjina", the title of Chris Williams' piece for string ensemble, is an Aranda expression which may be paraphrased as "the timeless dimension of dreams". Richard Willgoss, a longstanding member of the Bourbaki Ensemble, has also written a new work especially for these concerts and a CD recording of Wayne Dixon's "Mermaids" will be launched at these concerts.
Featured non-Australian music: Vaughan Williams, Holst, Ives
