Event Details
Strathfield Symphony Orchestra will be celebrating Miriam Hyde’s centenary year with performances of her much loved Second Piano Concerto on 23 and 24 March. Miriam played the concerto with this orchestra until she was in her 90s and our association with her goes back to 1969 when the orchestra was formed.
The soloist will be brilliant young pianist Alexey Yemtsov, a first prize winner in the Horowitz and Prokofiev International Piano Competitions, and the orchestra will be conducted by Musical Director Sadaharu Muramatsu. Also on the programme will be Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 6, Pathétique. Acclaimed as Tchaikovsky’s best symphony, both tragic and triumphant, this masterwork will receive its first performance by the orchestra.
