Event Details

More than just an ordinary concert, Quartet & Country is a much loved project of the Australian String Quartet – one that seeks to find common ground between Western art music and the songlines of this country. A multi-faceted event comprising two concert programs of top Australian composers and a Q&A session, it celebrates new Australian music written and performed by some of the country’s leading voices including Lou Bennett and Stephen Pigram (4pm concert), William Barton (6pm concert) and the ASQ. Program One (4pm) David Paterson Quartettsätze – Two movements for string quartet Stephen Pigram Walganyagarra Buru Mimi Kate Moore String Quartet No.3 ‘Cicadidae’ Iain Grandage, Lou Bennett dirt song Lou Bennett Jaara Nyilamum Program Two (6pm Program Peter Sculthorpe String Quartet No.11 ‘Jabiru Dreaming’ Stephen King 'Torn' for String Quartet and Didjeridoo Iain Grandage After Silence Sarah Hopkins Reclaiming the Spirit William Barton Square Circles Beneath the Red Desert Sand Following the 4pm concert and preceding the 6pm concert, join the artists for a Q&A in the Primrose Potter Salon. The Q&A is free however bookings are required.
