Event Details
Claire Edwardes teams up with emerging young drummer Chloe Kim to present an evening of percussive rhythms and new works by a smashing line up of Australian female composers including Maria Grenfell, Anne Cawrse and Peggy Polias. The live performances will be followed by a Keychange panel focusing on the issues raised by Catherine Strong in her research of the broader music industry – “Women are…afforded less symbolic and cultural capital than men, a point illustrated through the systematic devaluation of women as both producers and consumers of music” – with panelists including Nardi Simpson (composer/author/singer), Amanda Brown (composer/singer), Emma Dunch (CEO, Sydney Symphony) and Claire Edwardes (percussionist/Artistic Director). This free event is presented as part of the Now You Hear Her program by Backstage Music - register via the booking link below.
Performers: Freya Schack-Arnott (cello) Claire Edwardes (percussion) Chloe Kim (drums) Jason Noble (clarinet) Lamorna Nightingale (flute)
