Event Details

‘Karin Schaupp’s playing is so perfect, so complete, that it seems like a miracle.’ Badische Zeitung (Germany)

Karin Schaupp is an outstanding guitarist on the international scene. In her teens she won prestigious international prizes in Italy and Spain, and is today sought after internationally as a recitalist, soloist and festival guest. She has collaborated with the world’s top performers, and in 2017 she won an Aria for her third album with singer Katie Noonan, Songs of The Latin Skies. Karin is Head of Classical Guitar at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.

In a rare solo concert, classical guitarist Karin Schaupp performs compelling narrative works and beloved musical treasures both old and new. Performed with her acclaimed emotional delivery and delicate precision, hear repertoire by Mertz, Schubert and Regondi played on Romantic guitar and, on a modern instrument, Phillip Houghton’s Ophelia – A Haunted Sonata, and Richard Charlton’s Suspended in a Sunbeam; a new work composed especially for Karin, incorporating spoken word and solo guitar.
