The Australian Music Centre’s Board has recently met to consider the Australia Council Music Board’s multi-year funding offer for AMC’s core activities in 2012-2013. The offer sees AMC’s funding for 2012 set at $375K, reducing to $325K for 2013. While the AMC continues to enjoy significant support from the Australia Council, the funding offer over the two years  represents a 30% reduction from 2011 levels.

I am fortunate to experience many kinds of new musics, and engage with creators and practitioners in a diverse range of contexts, both in Australia and internationally. Through the work we do at the Australian Music Centre, promoting the work of Australian composers, through the AMC's role as the Australian Member Section of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM), and in my role as the current President of the ISCM, I have a particular and privileged perspective on the new music landscape that few others have.

27 Feb 2014 The 40-year-old AMC goes all digital by John Davis

With the 40th birthday of the Australian Music Centre fast approaching, the AMC staff has recently embarked on a large-scale project to speed up digitising the Centre's collection of scores and other materials. The project received funding of $182,000 in the second half of 2013 from DEEWR (now the Federal Department of Education), enabling a significant increase in digital resources available through the AMC website.

With the ambitious target of 13,000 new digital objects, the project is now fully underway...

21 Apr 2015 AMC's Digitisation Project - facts and figures by John Davis

Funded through a grant from the Federal Government Department of Education and Training, the AMC's 2013-2015 digitisation project set a goal of completing the digitisation of a major part of the AMC's library collection of scores and audio, as well as the AMC's publications and photo archive.

The project target was to add 13,000 new digital objects to the AMC's existing digital collection. During the course of the project (in 2013-2015), 12,508 scores and sets of performance parts were scanned and digitised. Also included in the collection were 1,084 digital audio files, 508 digital images...

11 Mar 2021 Casting pebbles by John Davis

John Davis - AMC's one-time junior Sales Assistant, and, since 1995, our CEO - leaves the organisation on 15 March with the following parting words. The AMC staff takes this opportunity to publicly thank John from the bottom of our hearts for his always good-humoured leadership, his experienced guidance, mentorship and friendship. We wish him well on his new adventures, wherever he decides to go.
