Work Overview
This work draws on the mysticism and romanticism of the late 19th Century pre-Raphaelite movement. The music is reminiscent of English and American Art Song of the early 20th century, and features long undulating lines, plaintive piano accompaniment, and lush harmonic progressions. The text is by early 20th century English poet Walter de la Mare.
This work would suit a secondary/tertiary vocal student and could be performed by male or female voices.
