Work Overview
This work was commissioned by Elements String Quartet, New York City, as part of an ongoing project involving brief settings by a number of contemporary composers inspired by a favorite photo. My photo has me disembarking from a cruise ship in front of a sailor onto the Greek island of Corfu. It premiered at Lincoln Center in 2002. The work reflects influences from a mixture of folk, jazz, and traditional cultures.
