Work Overview

Flight from Dungannon Caastle is a lyrical piece that depicts the story of the Irish Rebellion in the late 16th Century. There are lyrical episodes that depict the emotion contrasted with passages of triplet rhythms that evoke a sense of urgency. The harmony is baed on minor and diminished chords with numerous chord extensions and unrelated modulations. There are sections of rhythmic interplay and counterpoint between the bassoon and piano.
