Work Overview

This three piece suite is composed in a Brazilian style. Favela Dawn describes the morning sun striking the favelas (slums) on the hills surrounding Rio, which can have a strange beauty. The minor section reflects the poverty, crime and drugs that make living there very challenging. The third section reflects the resilience and hope of the Brazilian people who carve an existence out of living in these slums.

Ipanema Sunset pictures two young lovers sitting on Ipanema Beach soaking up a beautiful sunset with the bustle of Rio in the background.

Carnaval Night attempts to capture the energy, excitement and colour of "Carnaval".
