enfold : for pianist on an amplified, old upright, and audient / Charlie Sdraulig.
Library shelf no. 786.2/SDR 2 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
This is an intimate, interactive performance-installation for pianist and one audience member at a time. In a small, quiet space, the pianist sits alongside the audient, as if playing together in a four hands arrangement. They share headphones. Mediated by high levels of amplification, the pianist leads a slow, quiet, AMSR-like tour of an old, upright piano's action-discovering creaks, resonances and other idiosyncratic sounds particular to that specific instrument, as elicited via gentle brushes, caresses, scrapes, taps, and more.
