Instrumentation: 2 flutes (2 doubles piccolo), 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in B flat, 2 bassoons, 4 horns in F, 3 trumpets in C, 2 trombones, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion (3 players: large deep toned gong, 2 suspended cymbals; one large and sonorous the other medium but bright, crash cymbals, bass drum, glockenspiel, tubular bells), harp, strings.
