Work Overview
COLOURS OF THE SEA
Written in 2004 for alto flute, cello and piano for Meininger Trio (Germany), the piece is a tribute to the sea, to its beauty, magic, fun, as well as unpredictability and dangers. Rather than trying to describe or depict the limitless shades of the colours of the sea, I was more inspired by the thoughts and associations about what is vibrating under the surface. The Meininger Trio premiered the piece at the Oberstdorf Chamber Music Festival in August 2004.
In August 2004 I wrote a version for piano solo (shortened by ca. 2 min., compared to the original), for myself to perform at the Barossa Festival in 2004.
