Work Overview

The piece is an arrangement of the first movement of Bach's Capriccio in Bb BWV 992 for keyboard. The arrangement is an imaginative reconstruction of what Bach might have written for the solo double bass pizzicato, if such pieces had been in vogue during his day. The single-line arrangement draws on more than one voice from the original. Moreover, the technique of using a single line to project a multi-voiced texture was influenced by Bach's compositions for solo violin and solo cello.
