Work Overview
This is a set of arrangements for saxophone quartet, of jazz compositions I wrote under the guidance of George Russell at the New England Conservatory, Boston. Russell's Lydian Chormatic Concept of Tonal Organization was used to generate the harmonic ideas in Pondside and Star Of. Green Tristano is a contrafact based on the jazz standard On Green Dophin St., and the melodic ideas derive from a combination of Lydian Chromatic Theory and bebop pianist Lennie Tristano's approach to linear development.
