Work Overview

The title refers to a cafe called The Green Parrot in Wellington New Zealand, where I grew up. In its heyday, in the forties and fifties, it was "the place to be". As a child my family would go into the city for Friday night shopping, and I remember when we drove past it there were garish lights and lots of people milling around. So this music is my memory of a place I never went to, but imagine being rowdy, with music - jazz, some fifties pop, some romantic love songs - interspersed with the hectic sounds of the city - traffic, car horns, things getting a bit out of hand maybe.
