Work Overview

The title alludes to the dangerous vacuum which results when statements by ignorant and bigoted people in positions of power go unchallenged.

The electric guitar is to be prominent in the texture whenever it plays and is intended to have a rock sound - not necessarily distorted, but with a degree of overdrive (if that makes any sense!) The guitar part should be played with a flamboyant, dramatic style, with plenty of vibrato and pitch bending where desired. Although the score stipulates electric bass, double bass is acceptable, providing it can provide an energetic rock sound, balancing with the drums and guitar.
