Work Overview
This work for mandolin orchestra was commissioned by FAME (the
Federation of Australasian Mandolin Ensembles) for performance at
the Summer School in January 1988, in Sydney. It was subsequently
recorded by the Sydney Mandolins, with a smaller ensemble, for
release on the Jade series of Australian music compact discs
(JADCD 1025). In this form it has featured in numerous broadcasts
and also in the concert programmes of the Providence Mandolin
Orchestra, in the USA.
The composer says, "Many people ask me about the title of the
work - I decided upon this title because I like to have a
starting point for my imagination, and having seen many films
which focus not only upon a love triangle, but often a car chase
as well, this seemed to be a subject that was waiting for me."
