My favourite Australian art song repertoire

The AMC asked leading practitioners to select their favourite Australian art song repertoire, to provide delegates to the 2013 International Conference of Vocal Teachers (Brisbane 2013) with an introduction to this rich and diverse landscape.
Excellent marriage of poetic and musical colours and character. Moderate to Advanced musical and technical challenge for a high soprano.

This cycle of seven songs allows the soprano to explore aspects of her register for dramatic purposes (‘The bird’), ornamentation to mimic the emphatic rhythms of insects (‘The cricket’), sing legato lines (‘The wind and the song’) and explore specific colours of the voice along with a range of rhythmic features (‘Brown Jack’).
