Work Overview
This work is an arrangement for violin and piano of the first movement of Firestorm Symphony which was written following the bushfires in 1995 and 2001 during which tie the composer lived in the lower Blue Mountains, NSW. It is a descriptive work which captures the sounds of native birds, menacing wind and raging fires.

Instrumentation: Violin, piano.There are 2 versions: 8 min., and abridged version of 5 min.
Difficulty: Advanced — rhythmically challenging, use of effects
Dedication note: Dedicated to the composer's mother, Else Brandman, whose dream inspired the work.
Commission note: Commissioned by Duo Deconet.
First performance: by Duo Deconet at Music without borders (Mosman Art Gallery and Community Centre) on 10 Aug 2013
