Work Overview

Ears was written for a scratch orchestra, assembled by Compost Composers for the concert BIG and performed at QSO studios at Ferry Road in Brisbane in 1999. The work contains funk and new music elements. The influence of my composition teacher Gerard Brophy can be heard, as well as ideas that were echoed by my ensemble at the time, Babel. The work contains some moderate rhythmic challenges, particularly for the 2 drummers, who perform overlapping additive rhythms.
