Work Overview

A suite for double string quartet commissioned as the first new composition of the Musica Viva Hildegard Project, supporting Australian women in composition.

Saudade is a Portugese word meaning; nostalgia, reminiscence for something, once loved, but now lost. Reflecting on this concept, the octet aims to portray the various emotional states associated with the mother and child relationship, through the cycle of life.
