Instrumentation: Piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, cor anglais, 3 clarinets in B flat (3rd doubling bass clarinet), 2 bassoons, contra-bassoon, 4 French horns in F, 3 trumpets in C, 2 tenor trombones, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion (5 players), harp, piano/celesta, 2 treble voice choirs (SSAA and SA), narrator, strings.

This piece was originally written as music for the opening ceremony of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, and was the first movement of a piece called Boy on the Bay. It was subsequently revised for performance in this concert version for Festival 500 in Newfoundland, Canada in June 2007 .
