Lapis Lazuli was composed to express my feelings about the history of the guitar - from the first known chordophones (eg Queen Pu'Ab's Harp, Sumeria c.2,500BCE to the present day.

Instrumentation: Flute, oboe, cor anglais, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 French horns, 2 trumpets in Bb, 2 flügelhorns (or trombones), percussion (2 players: tubular bells, glockenspiel, mark tree, xylophone), guitar solo, strings.
