Library shelf no. Q 785.5513/REE 1 [Available for loan]
Work Overview
The title could be most appropriately translated as Twisted Themes. The three main ideas comprise one which is primarily melodic, another characterised by its martial rhythm and the third consisting of sliding two-note chords. Along with the sounds of the gongs the last idea forms part of the background. However, its role is ambiguous in that it also takes on elements of the two previously described foreground ideas. This process of exchange is a featured strategy as is the interruption of it by passages of different length and speed, usually in notes of equal duration.
