A theme repeated several times with all the unusual harmonic variation just intonation provides.

Work Details

Year: 2012

Instrumentation: French horn, trombone, tuba.

Duration: 6 min.

Difficulty: Advanced — The piece is in just intonation and uses a different notation for accidentals. Rhythm (11/8) needs getting used to. The horn part is particularly difficult.

Commission note: Commissioned by Trio Kobayashi (Los Angeles)

First performance: at Sydney MicroFest 2 (East Sydney Community and Arts Centre) on 23 Sep 2018
