Instrumentation: Solo amplified oboe, 3 flutes (2nd & 3rd doubling piccolo), 2 oboes, cor anglais, 3 B flat clarinets (2nd doubling alto saxophone in E flat, 3rd doubling bass clarinet in B flat), 2 bassoons, contra-bassoon, 4 horns in F, 2 trumpets in C, 2 trombones, bass trombone, bass tuba, percussion (3 players), harp, strings (24 violins (grouped 8.8.8).8.8.8).
