Instrumentation: 3 flutes, (3rd doubling piccolo), 3 oboes (3rd doubling cor anglais), 3 clarinets in B flat, 3 bassoons (3rd doubling contra-bassoon), 4 horns in F, 4 trumpets in B flat, 3 tenor trombones, bass trombone, tuba, timpani, percussion (3 players), 2 harps, strings (14,12,10,6,6).

Commission note: Commissioned by National Youth Orchestra.. This work was written for the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland. It was commissioned by Toyota Ireland as the award for winning the Amadeus Prize Dublin 1991.
