Work Overview
Features the voice of Percy Grainger, as recorded in August 1952 on an American CBS Radio program called 'Favorites of the Famous'. Davidson uses the rhythm and shape of Grainger's speech to create 'speech melodies' from memorable quotes like "music is the art of agony".
The work requires the pianists to play in synchronisation with an audio recording of Percy Grainger. This is achieved through listening to a click track from the left channel of the audio (not heard by the audience).
