Partita Elegiaca : for solo violin / Charles Bodman Rae.

Work Overview
My Partita Elegiaca is in three movements: Prelude, Sarabande, and Toccata. As the title suggests, there is a sense of hommage to the incomparable solo violin works of J.S. Bach. The work was commissioned by and is dedicated to the eminent Polish violinist, Rafal Zambrzycki, concertmaster of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, and former violinist with the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt. I will forever be grateful to Rafal Zambrzycki for playing - solo Bach - at the Warsaw funeral of my late wife, the Polish actress Dorota Kwiatkowska, in June 2019. The elegiac mood of the Sarabande hints at this shared experience. The premiere was given by Rafal Zambrzycki on 10 October 2021 at the EstOvest Festiva of Music in Italy.
