Sheet Music: ScoreWinter soliloquy : for piano solo / Mark Grandison.by Mark Grandison (2002)

Product details
Winter Soliloquy is a gentle and reflective work, intuitive and improvisatory in its unfolding. The opening series of arabesques establish the melancholy mood and harmonic character; 4ths, 5ths and 2nds form the basis of most chords. From this emerges a left-hand plaintive ostinato in 7/8 that persists for much of the work. Around this weaves a highly ornamental melody and gong-like bass chords, both layers sustained by the right hand. Thus the technical challenge is to crate the aural illusion of three hands maintaining a continuum of three separate musical strands.
