Sheet Music: Score & Part(s)West wind : for violin and piano / Ann Carr-Boyd.by Ann Carr-Boyd (1994)

Product details
West Wind is an adaptation for violin and piano of the
last movement of my Trio for flute, viola and double bass, titled
Suite in Orange, which was premiered in the town of
Orange in New South Wales in 1994.
The mood of the work is a musical interpretation of the westerly
winds which prevail in inland NSW. Their persistence is echoed by
the presence of the 4 note figure which opens the work. This
figure, in turn, gives way to an ebb and flow of tempi and themes
(like the wayward wind) - the music hesitates, then races forward
again. The musical style is reminiscent of minimalism, a
technique in which a musical idea may be repeated several (or
sometimes many) times over, perhaps with small changes in the
implied harmonies. I thought that this technique would be
evocative of the west wind - something which is persistent, but
changes willfully at a moment's notice.
