Sheet Music: Performance PartsWaterlilies (After Claude Monet) : guitar duet / Bradley Kunda.by Bradley Kunda (2007)
|
Product details
Waterlilies draws its inspiration, as the title
suggests, from the series of oil paintings of the same name by
Claude Monet, and in particular his Nymphéas that hangs
in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Australia
in Canberra.
This work musically evokes Monet's multi-layered use of colour
through the staggered layering of the guitar parts in the outer
sections of the work, creating the effect of an electronic delay
albeit in a live and acoustic way.
This live-delay effect continues throughout the middle section,
which comprises a series of moody episodes bookended by the only
passage in the work that is discernibly homophonic (stating a
clear melody above an arpeggiated accompaniment).
