Sheet Music: Score & Part(s)Very slow jazz : for violin and piano / Ann Carr-Boyd.by Ann Carr-Boyd (2010)
|
Product details
Very Slow Jazz has undergone a small transformation
since it began life in the 1990s as
part of incidental music to the play 'When the World was Green'
by Tom Shepard. Some
of this original music became part of a suite of three pieces for
piano and violin (published
by Carlisle Print with the title 'When the World was Green') and
in 2010 the middle
movement (Slow Jazz) was extended and arranged by the composer
for solo violin and
string orchestra, as part of her Violin Concerto. This
arrangement for violin and piano is
taken from the Violin Concerto and appears in a new key and a
very slow tempo.
In performance the work should be played very expressively and
with lots of time to linger
on the melody and harmonies - in fact, to be played as the title
suggests - slowly,
expressively and yet with an underlying swing.
