Product details
This work evidences the composer's interest in minimalism and the influence of artists such as Phillip Glass, Michael Nyman and Yann Tiersen. These two songs are the most art music in style of the composer's oeuvre to date and as such, are more suitable for Senior School choir, adult community choir or solo vocalist. The minimalist style, sustained quality of the melodic line and challenging tritone interval also better suit an intermediate choir. The tension between consonance and dissonance, together with the technique of repetition, paint an image in the listener's mind of swimming in a rock pool at the base of an energetic waterfall.
Visitors are able to walk behind the falls at Purling Brook, which is in the Scenic Rim area of the Gold Coast hinterland. Unfortunately, the original Aboriginal name for this site is unknown.
